EVA Air’s “The Star” Lounge in the Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE) was mediocre at best. While “The Star” was slightly less crowded and had better decor than the adjoining “The Infinity” lounge, nothing stood out to me, and the food wasn’t very good. Overall I was a little disappointed given that EVA Airlines has exceptional business and first class products in the air, and that the Taipei Taoyuan Airport is EVA Air’s largest hub.
EVA Airlines has four lounges at the Taipei Taoyuan Airport (TPE) – The Club, The Garden, The Star and The Infinity. They are located one level above the main concourse in Terminal 2. After passing security and immigration take the escalators up one level.
Access depends on what type of ticket you have and if you have elite status with EVA Air, or another Star Alliance partner.
- The Club – EVA Air silver members
- The Garden – Eva Air Diamond members
- The Star – Star Alliance Gold members (or business class passengers)
- The Infinity – business class passengers only
You can actually do a pretty cool walk-through tour of the lounges on their website.
Business Class Entrance
The entrance was very beautiful. To the right is The Infinity and to the left is The Star. I reviewed The Infinity separately, although there are many similarities, including location.
The decor of the lounge was vastly different than what we experienced at The Infinity. While not as grand as other lounges, it felt refined with traditional Chinese/Taiwanese accents. This lounge wasn’t as crowded as The Infinity, which is strange because business class passengers who were at The Infinity also had access to this lounge.
EVA Air The Star Food and Beverages
The main buffet area was at the end of the lounge and served up predominantly Taiwanese cuisine. Nothing looked particularly appetizing though. The food was essentially the same as The Infinity, except The Infinity offered Haagen-Dazs ice cream while The Star had Movenpick.
Showers and Restrooms
There were four showers with various names and themes. Unfortunately they were all occupied so I didn’t have a chance to check them out.
The wifi worked without any issues while I was there.
Lounge Review Conclusion
As you can tell I was a little disappointed in my reviews of the EVA Air lounges “The Star” and “The Infinity” at the Taipei Taouyan Airport (TPE). While their business and first class products in the air are quite exceptional, their main lounges at their primary airport hub were both unremarkable. If you have access to both, I would say choose The Star since it was less crowded and more relaxing, and the food was nearly identical. They are located together so it wouldn’t be hard to visit both at the same time. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to visit EVA Air’s The Garden Lounge for Diamond members, or the Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge, but I would imagine they are better than The Star and The Infinity as well.
